Words of Wisdom

August 6, 2014 - Serving Seniors

Albert Einstein said “Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”   If anyone has learned from the past and is living for today, it is our seniors.  They have years of experience and life lessons to share, so we asked a group of folks at the West Senior Wellness Center:

“What piece of advice would you give to your 20 year old self?”

We were met with some very practical advice and thought we’d better take note.  Here are some words of wisdom worth sharing and remembering.

“Always be prepared for the future because life is so very precious and so very short.”  -Josy, Age 65

“Don’t keep making the same mistakes.  Make different ones.  Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.”  -William, Age 77

“Don’t be so hard on yourself.  Life is going to show up and if you can admit you are only human and do the best you can, you will avoid a lot of unnecessary grief, remorse and pain.” -Tony, Age 67

“Be willing to take the road less traveled.  Worry less about appearance and focus on substance.  Always trust your gut.”  -Daisy, Age 74

“Get a great education.  Learn to live alone for at least two years.  Get to know someone before you get involved with them.”  -Yoko, Age 63
