Senior Idol 2016

August 26, 2016 - Serving Seniors

On Thursday, August 25th, the house was packed for our  10th annual “Senior Idol” competition at the Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center. This year we had 15 contestants who performed musical numbers, stand-up comedy acts and poetry reading.

To kick off the event, the West Singing Seniors sang familiar tunes as guests danced and sang along. Queen Johnson, a member of Serving Seniors’ Civic Engagement Committee, emceed the event and filled the audience in on fun little tidbits about each contestant before they showed off their talents.

This year’s “Senior Idol” was judged by representatives from Cushman & Wakefield, Bartell Hotels, San Diego Community Mortgage and US Marine Corp. Comedian Darwin Coleman took home 1st prize!

The line-up was chock full of talent and we’re already excited to see what next year’s competition will bring!
