Alpha Project (Senior Transport Program) – provides non-emergency transportation to low-income seniors living in the city of San Diego. For information, please call (888) 325-7427.

MTS Access – provides transportation to transit riders whose disabilities prevent them from using regular bus or trolley services.

FACT (Facilitating Access to Coordinated Transportation) – assist San Diego County residents with transportation services. For assistance call (888) 924-3228.


Senior Community Service Employment Program – provides part-time work-based training opportunities at local community service agencies for seniors who have poor employment prospects. For information, please call: (619) 505-6955.

 


San Diego Housing Commission – provides rent subsidies for seniors 62 and older.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) – provides guidance on home buying, renting, reverse mortgages and default and foreclosure prevention.

HUD Affordable Apartment Search – allows you to search for subsidized apartments in California.

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) – If you are at risk of having your utilities shut off, please call (800) 411-SDGE (7343) or visit their website.

2-1-1 San Diego Resource Center – provides information on current availability of services and homeless shelters. For more information, please call: 211.


San Diego Food Bank – enroll in the Emergency Food Assistance Program.

The Angel’s Depot – Provides “Senior Food-for-a-Week” Emergency Meal Boxes. For information, please call (760) 599-7093.

CalFresh – The CalFresh Program, formerly known as Food Stamps and federally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), can add to your food budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table.


Legal Aid Society – offers the poor of San Diego County legal help when no other resource is available. For information, please call (877) LEGAL AID or (877) 534-2524.

Elder Law & Advocacy – provides civil legal services to seniors, as well as Medicare and MediCal counseling and advocacy. For information, please call (858) 565-1392.

Senior Citizen Services Center Office – locations throughout the county, information and referral services are provided to seniors by seniors. City Administration Building, 202 C Street, 1st Floor Lobby, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For information, please call (619) 236-6905.

IRS – free tax preparation help during tax season.

Adult Protective Services – APS serves adults 65 and older and dependent adults 18 and older, who are harmed, or threatened with harm, to ensure their right to safety and dignity.
