Take Action for OAA Reauthorization
On January 26, Senator Sanders (I-VT) introduced the Older Americans Act Reauthorization bill. “We are at a critical moment. We must give seniors the support they need to stay healthy in their homes and communities,” said Senator Sanders, chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging.
This bill:
- strengthens the senior nutrition program by preserving funding streams for both senior congregate and home delivered meals.
- limits the ability of state and local governmental entities to shift funding away from nutrition to “back fill” non-nutrition services.
- recommends significant funding increases to realistically address the dramatic increases in the number of seniors projected for the coming years.
TAKE ACTION NOW!
It is critically important that members of Congress hear from you how important the reauthorization of the OAA is to seniors in this country. Please send an email today urging both Senators Boxer and Feinstein – and your local member of the House of Representatives – to back the Sanders’ bill; and ask them to sign the Pledge to support OAA Reauthorization.
